You are special, and because of it, you make me feel special.

It might seem to you like I’ve been neglectful of my Gunmetal Geisha duties, but it’s actually the opposite.

On Tuesday, I posted my first article on Long Awkward Pause.

The day after that, I got my nerve together to submit my first piece to the Huffington Post. Today it’s on their front page.

So what I want to say to you, and all my friends who have shown me constant support, is thank you. You, the person who clicked on this post and are reading these words: you are special, and because of it, you make me feel special.

The two articles have as little in common as possible, but I’m proud of both for different reasons.

I can’t decide if the Long Awkward Pause piece is satirical instruction or instructional satire, but maybe you can. It’s called Tinder Swiping: The DOs and DON’Ts.

The Huffington Post piece is called What It Was Like to Be an Iranian-American Woman in NYC on 9/11.

I will, of course, be back here soon to tell you about everything I’ve been promising. In the meantime, you can always sign up for emails about new posts.

    1. Thanks!

  8. Congrats! Your article on Huff is great (I recognise parts of it from your blog post here), and first page is a well deserved place for it. I sense this is the beginning of something new…

    1. Hello there! Thanks, those are very exciting words…

It was the piece from here, revised and reworked a dozen ways, because it seems I can never stop editing. I need to just stop re-reading my own stuff, I think.

      Great to see you.

  9. Congratulations on both these posts, you are one of a very small number of people whose words never fail to effect me, either through provoking thought, emotion or humour (all three of which are essential aspects). I look forward to more of your excellent work.

    1. Oliver, this is one of the nicest things I’ve been told to date regarding this blog. Thank you.

  10. Congrats! Great piece on HP. Great to find wider markets for both of these pieces. It will mean the inevitable expansion of GG Nation…

    1. We shall see, won’t we?

Your post on HuffPo was amazing. I remember reading something similar here before, but it was worth the read again.

    1. Thanks, TD, so much.

  12. Awesome! Congratulations, GG. You’re as famous as Red now, AKA, Aussa. πŸ™‚ So happy for you.

    1. As famous as Red? Not possible!

      Thanks, Lori.
